I fell in love with her voice when I first heard Volcano by Damien Rice. Zahir introduced me to this song and I love how happy it is cos Volcano was such a heartbreaking song.

 

Object of Desire: Grace Kelly Green necklace by Elva Fields

I am in love with the gorgeous jewelry by Elva Fields especially the multi-strand vintage inspired necklaces. They've got fun, jewel-tone coloured beads to soft hues of blush pink with pearls...I am especially in love with this one, the Grace Kelly Green which is already sold out! I love the deep green shade and the striking vintage brooch. 

Daily Inspiration: Horchow

Maybe it's because Zahir and I are on the waiting list of a new flat...but I've been salivating over the beautiful furniture on Horchow. In 6 days, we will both know if our application is successful. I CAN'T WAIT! GAH! I believe there are 500+ units available and more than 2000 applications. Sigh. What are the chances? Zahir's been thinking positive but I just have this terrible feeling that we won't get it. It's just too good to be true. I hope I'm wrong.

Enough of that...let's now drool over these lovely rooms...

 

Spinsugar Stationery: Butterfly Note Cards

These are two of some of the note cards which I have in stock. I've had these printed MONTHS ago but I haven't packed them nicely to sell. I will soon! These are vintage illustrations of butterflies are printed on 4.25" x 5.5" 100lb cover-weight felt paper, a warm, buff-toned sheet with an embossed finish that feels like fine art paper and comes with matching envelopes.

 

Engaged!

So, last month...Zahir and I got engaged. In the malay culture, when couples get engaged, it is usually held as a formal ceremony with both families discussing dowry, exchanging gifts and when everyone agrees (yeah the whole family has to say YES, not just the girl), his mother or an elder female relative will slip the ring into the bride-to-be's finger. During all of this, the guy is at his place attending to his own guests.

Our engagement ceremony was a small one. Here is a picture of me with the lovely ladies who made it happen, from left to right, my cousin Fera, Aunt Ida, Mama and my sister, Elly :)

Ok I must admit, I am biased towards nudes, dusty rose, blush, cream, etc. (60% my closet is made up of these shades) but isn't this dress GORGEOUS?

Skin woes.

From Mondays to Fridays, I am usually clad in a simple top and jeans because my office (thank god!) does not have a dress code. I am in the arts industry and am very fortunate to be working for an awesome and down to earth company. We don't really dress up to the nines cept maybe during important meetings and events. We are work horses not show ponies :)

One thing I look forward to during weekends, is dressing up. I guess that's the good thing about not dressing up for work, when weekend comes and I get to dress up when I go out, it's actually pretty fun! Thing is I've got really sensitive skin and travelling to cold countries will give me rashes. I've got it pretty bad when I went to Switzerland three years ago and Paris two years ago. Whenver I wore dresses or skirts, I have to wear tights to cover the scars :(

It's only recently that I discovered that tea tree oil body wash works wonders. seriously. I've only used the oil for my pimples but two months ago, my sister bought it and I just gave it a try and boy did it work! The scars are lightening, the rashes are slowly disappearing and the itch is slowly going away. I'm on my third bottle now. I've only been using the one from The Body Shop, it's been working quite well I'm hesitant to switch brands. I can't wait for the day that all the marks are gone so I can have the confidence of wearing skirts and dresses again.

I had the pleasure of designing my friend's entire wedding stationery. We wanted to go for clean and classic look. of weddings and funerals

The past few months were filled with so many things, both good and bad. Weddings, funerals, projects and ...Zahir and I got engaged! :)

It has been a rollercoaster ride, really. There was this period where we attended funerals 3 times a month. My eldest aunt passed away. I remember rushing to the hospital from work but I got there 10 minutes too late. My mother and her two sisters were at her bedside when she passed on. Mama told me she passed on quietly and peacefully. The next week, my mom's friend's sister passed away and the next week, my childhood friend passed away. It was an extremely melancholy month.

Soon after that, a friend of mine got married and I was extremely happy because I designed her wedding stationery :) everything  about the wedding was gorgeous! although I must add that gorgeous came with a gorgeous price tag as well, the venue, the food, the dress, the flowers...it was really pretty!

The weekend after that, Zahir's close friend got married. I was really happy for them because we were there when he first met her and started dating...it was nice to see everything blossom :)

Maybe it's because I am in my mid twenties and most of my friends are getting hitched one by one. I have two weddings coming up in November and a close friend of mine is getting hitched next year. I'm really excited and happy for her!
